Leicester Regeneration Company welcomed the general public, business leaders and members of the property industry to a celebration of the city’s renewal.

The Big Build Live exhibition was centralised around a bird’s eye view display of the city’s regeneration projects and was held as part of The Leicester Mercury’s week of reopening celebrations.

The event showcased the new architecture and developments that are reshaping the city over the next five years.

Exhibitors included some of the country’s leading developers, such as Akeler, who are developing Colton Square in the New Business Quarter, and Hammerson and Hermes, who are doubling the size of the Shires shopping centre.

During the day, 650 members of the public attended, including more than 400 representatives from 73 of Leicester’s community associations and neighbourhood groups. They were given the opportunity see the regeneration first hand on guided bus tours of the city and talk to regeneration representatives about the opportunities that are being brought about by the city’s regeneration.

Following the public event, some 250 property and business professionals attended an evening reception and presentation on energy efficiency organised by the Leicester-based property industry organisation ProCon.
