Q: I am
writing
a dissertation
on the
role of
heritage
regeneration
and was
wondering
how Leicester
Regeneration
Company
was incorporating
it into
its work?
A:
LRC sees
the heritage
of Leicester
as very
important
for it’s
the city’s
identity
and as
a key factor
in attracting
tourism.
Although
our projects
do not
directly
involve
the regeneration
of historic
buildings,
where those
buildings
are of
quality,
we seek
to integrate
them into
our proposals
(for example,
the new
office
development
at the
former
Police
Station
on Charles
Street).
We are
also co-sponsoring
a Project
Officer
in the
City who
is working
to develop
heritage-driven
opportunities.
